Victorian splendour with state-of-the-art luxury

House

Built in 1861, stunning Braywood House was originally a flint-faced vicarage with Bath stone detailing. Although its adjoining church was demolished in the 1960’s, the aisle and 23 gravestones from the original churchyard have been lovingly retained to form part of the front garden.

Behind the impressive facade, the period Victorian features now play their part in a contemporary, characterful design, with showstopping crystal chandeliers, huge mirrors, and vibrant artworks. A cutting-edge kitchen with ample dining space is the hub of the house, with two large reception rooms down the hallway to relax or entertain in and four large bedrooms upstairs.

From manicured lawns to long grassed fields, the combination of formal gardens and wild woods is unforgettable. We have a children’s woodland play area with a treehouse and zip wire; a Victorian graveyard; a south-facing kitchen garden with a dining area under a pergola and chandelier; and views for more than 20 miles across the countryside. There is also an ancient footpath which skirts the edge of the property, allowing you to walk through the fields to the village of Fifield and on to Bray.

Beyond the garden are 3,100ha of the Windsor and Swinley forests, with some oak and beech trees that even predate the forests’ establishment under William the Conqueror. Braywood House has free access for guests to enjoy parts of the forest not usually accessible by the general public.

The Kitchen

]

A bespoke, state-of-the-art kitchen designed by Anthony Mullen features everything you would expect, as well as extras such as two dishwashers, a boiling water tap, a Sonos sound system, Nespresso coffee machine and a stunning 8-seater dining table.

A central marble island features an induction hob to facilitate cooking and socialising and a nearby utility room keeps the washing machine and dryer convenient but out of the way. You can pop through the gothic arched window off the kitchen into your own private gym too.

Relaxation & Entertainment

]

The classic Victorian period features such as the fireplaces and the antique chandeliers and mirrors are an integral part of a contemporary décor that prioritises comfort while being visually stimulating.

With widescreen TVs in both reception rooms, voice activated lighting, Apple TV boxes and superfast wi-fi for your Netflix needs, entertainment is high on the agenda. Two large rooms give you the option of allowing children and adults their own viewing spaces or reserving one room for relaxing in peace and quiet with a glass of something from the wine fridge.
